Illustrator David Sibley and actor H. Jon Benjamin will face off in the bird illustration battle of the century during BirdNote's Year-end Celebration and Auction!
A juvenile Belted Kingfisher pauses with a freshly caught fish. Then he flips the food to swallow it headfirst. Other times he may pound that fish against a handy object before the flip-and-swallow act. A belted kingfisher generally hunts from a perch over clear water so he can see fish near the surface. But he may also hover above then dive upon his prey.
