Illustrator David Sibley and actor H. Jon Benjamin will face off in the bird illustration battle of the century during BirdNote's Year-end Celebration and Auction!
Tom Sanders, a native Washingtonian, lives in Seatac. An ardent supporter of wildlife, especially birds, Tom became a serious photographer in 2005. The inspiration for his photography was – and continues to be – the personal study of birds in their native habitat.
To get that perfect shot, Tom uses a variety of techniques: kayaking, tree climbing, and the good old-fashioned “stand-like-a-statue.” He has travelled extensively to build a gallery that’s representative of the wide diversity of species in Washington State.
Conservation of wetlands and protection of endangered species is secondary only to Tom's love of photographing birds. He is active with several state organizations, including the Washington Ornithological Society, Ducks Unlimited, and Seattle Audubon, in support of education and the preservation of Washington's birds. He has donated images to the Renton School District, Seattle Audubon, and BirdNote.
