Greg Lavaty

Greg Lavaty is from Houston, Texas, and has been serious about bird photography since around 2001, after experiencing a “fallout” at High Island, Texas. Getting that first good shot of a brilliant male Blackburnian Warbler really sparked something special. For the next several years, he worked as a chemist at a small custom chemical manufacturer and built his birding and photography skills, while exploring birding hotspots across Texas and beyond. His passion for wildlife really took over, and he has been doing nature photography full time since 2010, leading birding/photography tours in the US and abroad and giving photography instruction to others passionate about wildlife.
