BirdNote is announcing an indefinite pause on our activity on Twitter. We are committed to creating the kind of inclusive environmentalism we want to see in the world, and that includes intentionality in the kinds of stories we tell, the people and communities we spotlight and the platforms on which we seek to reach an audience.
This commitment feels incompatible with the increasing tolerance for hate speech and misinformation we have observed on this platform under its new leadership. BirdNote will continue activity on other social media platforms, subject to ongoing review. We will also continue to monitor the changing environment of Twitter and will revisit our decision as the platform evolves.
