Join BirdNote tomorrow, November 30th!
Illustrator David Sibley and actor H. Jon Benjamin will face off in the bird illustration battle of the century during BirdNote's Year-end Celebration and Auction!
Thank you for joining BirdNote and friends for our first ever Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon event! We hope you enjoyed this collaborative experience.
On Wednesday, September 28, BirdNote and partners hosted a collaborative Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon event to make bird-related Wikipedia pages more accurate, representative, and inclusive of the birding community by editing, adding, and improving pages related to birds on Wikipedia. The event featured Science Writer and Naturalist, Rosemary Mosco, as keynote speaker!
In this recording, you can watch Rosemary's speech, an introduction from all partners, and an introductory training from facilitators at 500 Women Scientists. Note, the recording skips a portion of the event where attendees broke out into breakout rooms to edit and add pages.
This Edit-A-Thon was hosted by BirdNote and 500 Women Scientists, as well as the following partners: The Galbatrosses, Birdability, Seattle Audubon, Black AF in STEM, Feminist Bird Club, Wikimedia New York City.
Wikipedia is the largest free and open encyclopedia on the web and one of the most visited reference sites. By learning how to edit these pages, attendees can help make sure this resource is representative of those who are making a difference in the birding world.
