National Wildlife Refuge Week is celebrated the second full week of October each year. Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, our federal refuge system protects critical land and water habitat for native species. NWRs not only benefit wildlife but also provide recreation - hiking, wildlife watching, fishing, and hunting - for millions of Americans every year.
