Ryan Morrissey grew up enjoying nature in some of the more remote areas of Long Island, New York. When he moved into the bright lights of urban Brooklyn, NY, he thought that wildlife opportunities would henceforth require a trek away from the city. Though it was not immediately apparent, it turned out that wildlife, especially birdlife, was merely a short walk or subway ride away.
Introduced to wildlife photography in late 2011, and then bird photography in 2012, Ryan has picked up a telephoto lens and hasn't looked back. "The wealth of new creatures that I continually stumble across in one of the biggest cities in the world never ceases to astound me." he remarks. "No one ever believes most of my photos are from New York City!"
As he grows as a photographer, Ryan aims for bold, big contrast photos and includes Prospect Park, Green Wood Cemetery and Central Park as his regular stomping grounds.
