Important Bird Areas of Washington

Important Bird Areas of Washington

The North American Bird Conservation Initiative has identified habitats essential to birds in different stages of their lives, including breeding, wintering, feeding, and migration. These habitats are critical in maintaining healthy populations of birds. “Important Bird Areas,” or IBAs, in Washington State provide habitat for more than 350 species of birds (including this Least Sandpiper) that live in and migrate through the state.
