Tasha Lawson seeks nature in her everyday life for peace, healing and fun. She taught herself birding in 2012 and in 2021 started to join the amazing inclusive birding groups that formed. She has worked for environmental non-profits in the Chicago region over the last decade where she enjoys highlighting nearby nature spaces, leading outdoor events and bird walks, and amplifying Black and historically excluded voices in the community. She was on the national planning team for Black Birders Week in 2023 and has been an Outdoor Afro Leader for the Chicago region the last two years.
