Jenn grew up in upstate New York. A former actress and stand-up comedian, she received a B.A. in Theatre from S.U.N.Y. New Paltz in 1984, but she’s always, at heart, been a writer.
While living in Boston, she received an M.F.A. from the Bennington Writing Seminars in Literature and Nonfiction. In 2006 she landed in the Pacific Northwest and felt she’d found her place and community. She’s been awarded a Millay Colony residency and has been a writer-in-residence at Centrum in Port Townsend, Washington. Her memoir, The House of My Sleepless Nights, which explores the effect of her mother’s hidden borderline personality disorder on her views of the world, is soon to be published. A portion of The House of My Sleepless Nights was published in Salamander, and her interview with the writer Jane Brox appeared in The Writer’s Chronicle. She’s been a featured artist in SoundFalls, an evening of music and stories in the Tree Farm Barn in Carnation, Washington, and was a finalist for the Lamar York Prize in nonfiction writing. She makes her home in the historic and mystical Snoqualmie Valley.
